46alpha refers to the MOS designation of a U.S. Army Public Affairs Officer. Those of us who work in the field of Public Affairs all share the ’46′ designation (i.e. 46A, 46Q, 46R, 46Z).

This site is a place for me to share tactics, techniques and procedures on how to use the tools of the web in order to be a better, and more effective communicator. The topics I typically blog about are social media, blogs, videos, podcasts, and all the devices and gadgets that can be utilized in the process. It serves as my ‘mental dumping ground’ for all things PA, PR and social media.

My Bio

I have been a Public Affairs Officer since 2003 serving in multiple positions and locations to include the following:

  • JFC HQ Brunssum (Media Officer)
  • ISAF 5 (Afghanistan), Canada-led (Media Operations Officer)
  • ISAF 6, (Afghanistan) EuroCorps-led (Media Operations Officer)
  • Allied Command Transformation (Media Officer)
  • NATO Response Force (Cape Verde, Africa) (Production Officer)
  • NATO Training Mission Iraq (Deputy Public Affairs Officer)
  • 1st HBCT, South Korea (Public Affairs Officer)

Prior to becoming a PAO, I served as a Field Artillery Officer at Fort Bragg, Fort Sill and Camp Casey, Korea.
